Social Action

Social action and social justice are deeply rooted in the traditions of Judaism, Brandeis University and Genesis.
In your courses and social action projects, you will learn from and work with activists, artists, and community leaders on different causes and approaches to social justice.

You will spend about fifteen hours engaging in social action projects on campus, in Waltham, or in Greater Boston.

Past Projects:

  • Weeding, planting and harvesting at Waltham Field Community Farm
  • Preparing packaged meals for homebound, terminally ill clients at Community Servings
  • Sorting clothing and toys for children-in-need at Cradles to Crayons
  • Painting a mural for a local Veteran’s Administration hospital
  • Designing birthday parties for children in shelters with Birthday Wishes
  • Cleaning out play spaces at the Waltham Boys and Girls Club
  • Painting, doing yard work, and creating community murals and sculptures at low-income housing developments in Waltham
