William R. O’Reilly

William R. O’Reilly joined Brandeis in August 2018 as chief of staff to President Ron Liebowitz. As chief of staff, O’Reilly provides strategic and analytical support for the president, prioritizes the office’s responses and actions, and supports the university-wide strategic-planning process.
Prior to Brandeis, O’Reilly was a partner at the law firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr. In his law practice, Bill was Corporation Counsel to the Museum of Science, Boston and represented numerous other nonprofit institutions and agencies. He possesses a great deal of knowledge and experience in the administration and governance of schools and universities.
O’Reilly was a member of the Tufts University Board of Trustees from 2004-17, nine of those years as vice chair. He has also been president of the Beaver Country Day School Board of Trustees and is currently on the Tufts University Hillel Board of Directors. For two years, he served as president of the Tufts University Alumni Association.
O’Reilly graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University and magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law School, where he was a member of the Law Journal editorial board.
