William R. O’Reilly is the chief of staff and senior advisor to President Ron Liebowitz. In his role, he provides strategic and analytical support for the president, prioritizes the office’s responses and actions, and supports the university-wide strategic-planning process.

Prior to Brandeis, O’Reilly was a partner at the law firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr. In his law practice, O'Reilly was corporation counsel to the Museum of Science, Boston, and represented numerous nonprofit institutions and agencies. He possesses a great deal of knowledge and experience in the administration and governance of schools and universities.

O’Reilly is a member of the Board of Directors of Tufts Hillel. He was a member of the Tufts University Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2017, nine of those years as vice chair. He has also served as president of the Tufts University Alumni Association and of the Beaver Country Day School Board of Trustees.

O’Reilly earned a BA from Tufts University and a JD from Georgetown University Law School, where he was a member of the Law Journal editorial board.
