Profile: Brandon Gale '15
Major/minor: International & Global Studies and Film Television and Interactive Media majors; Legal Studies and Politics minors
Study abroad program: Brandeis in The Hague (Spring 2014)
Reason you chose this program: The international law focus. I came to Brandeis knowing I wanted to study this field.
Why did you choose to study abroad when you did: The Brandeis led program aligned perfectly with my interest in law and IGS, and the tailor-made experience by Professor Gaskins had me sold from the beginning.
Favorite class(es): Law and Culture, taught by Leiden University directly, and Networks of Global Justice, taught directly by Professor Gaskins
Housing situation: University housing.
Best memory: Wandering around Leiden at night with my closest circle of friends. The city is a magical place, and at night it feels like a scene from a novel.
Greatest challenge: Adjusting normal processes in the US, like food shopping and laundry, to a new country where the processes have minor yet noticeable differences, which can be intimidating when first encountered.
What you know now that you didn't know before: International law is still very much in development, and has many forces shaping it at this moment. It's possible to become involved and take part in something new and great.
Fact about (country) that you think people would be surprised to learn: Bikes. They're everywhere. They might outnumber the people, couldn't count them all.
