Who Do I Pay?

Abroad Program
  • Program deposit

    • Some programs have an additional confirmation fee

    • Sometimes these fees are non-refundable

  • Room and board

    • Some programs also have a housing deposit

Personal Fees Accrued
  • Flights

  • Books

  • Visa, entry and exit, passport fees

  • Local transportation

  • Communications (e.g., cell phone, phone cards, etc.)

  • Miscellaneous/spending money

What Financial Aid Can I Bring? 

Institutional Scholarships

Institutional Aid can only be transferable in full if the aid does not exceed the Brandeis bill for that semester and/or the cost of the abroad program is more than or equal to a semester at Brandeis.

If you are an international student, please come in and meet with your financial aid counselor.

Federal Grants

If meets all requirements:

  • Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

  • Federal Pell Grant

  • State Scholarships

  • Mass. Gilbert Grants

  • Faculty and Staff Tuition Remission


Most loans if fulfills federal or private company requirements:

  • Federal Direct Stafford Loans

  • Federal Perkins Loans

  • Massachusetts No Interest Loan (MA NIL)

  • Brandeis Loans and Saval Loans

  • Federal Direct Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)

  • Other Parent and Student Private Loans (e.g., MEFA)
