Summer Study Abroad

The Netherlands
Studying abroad during the summer can be an excellent introduction to life abroad. A summer program is also an alternative for those who are not able to study abroad during the academic year. Please read below and check out the links on the right sidebar for more information.
The Office of Study Abroad is pleased to announce two great opportunities to study abroad abroad this coming summer with a Brandeis faculty member!
Brandeis Summer Program in The Hague, The Netherlands with Professor Richard Gaskins
Are you interested in international law and global governance? Students in this program will explore first-hand how international courts confront a range of global problems by meeting with judges, advocates, and academic specialists for a broad survey of the international legal process. The curriculum combines coursework, field visits to international courts, and interactive workshops with court advocates and international lawyers. Students will live in the adjacent university town of Leiden and will have direct access to major tribunals sitting in The Hague, including the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, and special war-crimes tribunals.
More information on this exciting option is available on The Hague Program page.
CET Intensive Language and Cultural Studies in Sicily, Italy with Professor Paola Servino
For students interested in an off-the beaten-path Italian experience, a summer in Catania, Sicily is an exciting possibility for you. Open to Brandeis students with at least two semesters of Italian language, this 8-week program provides the opportunity for Italian language immersion. Weekend excursions to remote spots around Sicily in addition to language practica and a history and culture course take learning outside the classroom walls and into the streets of one of Sicily's most charming cities. Italian roommates and language partners offer US students an opportunity to hone their language skills while experiencing la vita siciliana. Finally, participants in this summer program will have the opportunity to volunteers for a wide range of local businesses and organizations. Students who complete the program may receive numeric credit for three Brandeis courses as well as Italian elective credit.
