Soros Fellowships

Who:
Every year, The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans supports thirty New Americans, immigrants or the children of immigrants, who are pursuing graduate school in the United States.

Eligibility:
A New American who is 30 or younger as of the application deadline, and who is pursuing a graduate degree full-time in the United States in the 2018-2019 academic year. Applicants may apply to the Fellowship at the same time that they are applying for graduate school, or after they are already enrolled in graduate school. 

Where:
Varies depending on applicant’s choice of graduate program

Duration:
Each Fellowship supports up to two years of graduate study in any field and in any advanced degree-granting program in the United States. Each award is for up to $25,000 in stipend support (not to exceed $40,000), as well as 50 percent of required tuition and fees, up to $20,000 per year, for two years. The first year of Fellowship funding cannot be deferred.

Application Requirements:
Online application. Confirmation of eligibility. Resume. Two essays. Transcripts. Scores of standardized tests already taken. Recommendations (3 required, up to 5 accepted). Optional exhibits.  

Campus Deadline:
October 2, 2017

Final Deadline:
November 1, 2017

Notification:
Finalists will be notified in late fall if they have been invited to interview in January/February of 2018.
