ISSO Office Hours This Week & Applying for OPT

ISSO Office Hours This Week
The ISSO will be closed on Wednesday, September 26 in observance or Yom Kippur. The office will also be closed on Thursday, September 27 for a departmental meeting. If you need to contact the ISSO, we will be checking phone messages throughout the day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. You can leave a message at 7817363480. The ISSO will re-open on Friday, September 28 at 9:00 am.
CPT/OPT Drop Off Hours this week will be:

GRADUATING IN DECEMBER AND PLANNING TO APPLY FOR OPTIONAL PRACTICAL TRAINING (OPT)?

Are you finishing your degree in December and planning to apply for OPT? If so, we encourage you to file soon! OPT applications are typically taking 2 1/2 to 3 months before you get the OPT card. PhD students: please note that you need to make an appointment in order to file for OPT.
If you have not attended an employment workshop, we would strongly encourage you to join us for one before you apply for CPT or OPT. See the schedule below for upcoming employment workshops.

WORKSHOPS
All Fall 2012 Employment Workshops will cover Curricular Practical Training (CPT, for F1 Visa holders) starting at 3pm, Optional Practical Training (OPT, for F1 Visa holders) from 3:30pm-4:30, and Academic Training (AT, for J1 Visa holders) starting at 4:30 until 5pm. All workshops will be in the conference room of Kutz 215, unless otherwise announced.

If you are graduating this December or next May and want to look for a job/internship in the U.S., or if you want some preparation tips for finding an internship this summer, we invite you to join Ruth Brigham from the ISSO and Jane Pavese from the Hiatt Career Center for a joint workshop on OPT, CPT, and job searching tips. Ruth will provide information about OPT, CPT and the application process, and Jane will talk about job search strategies, online resources such as finding employers who have sponsored students in the past for H1B work visas, marketing yourself for the U.S. job market, and more! We hope you can join us!
