Our Thoughts and Prayers to Thailand
Oct. 28, 2011
The Staff of the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) are saddened at the news of the devastation caused by the flooding in Thailand. Reports have vast portions of Thailand have been experiencing some of the worst flooding in the past fifty years, effecting over 9.5 million citizens, and now serious flooding has extended into Bangkok, requiring the closure of its
airport and other services in the city. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who are affected by this tragedy.
In addition to the international students and scholars from Thailand who are studying, pursuing research, and teaching at Brandeis, there are many in our community who may have family, friends, or colleagues in the affected areas, and as such this has had a direct impact on the entire Brandeis Community.
Being away from home during these times make it even more vital for everyone to utilize the support networks here at Brandeis. We encourage anyone who needs support or assistance at this time to feel free to contact the ISSO, or any
Brandeis staff member, as we are prepared to help in any way we can. It is also important at this time to reach out to those closest to you who may be dealing with these events, those who are concerned about family or friends in this
region. Student Life Staff, the Chaplaincy, and the Counseling Center are also available to assist members of our
community. We are here for you.
Please do not hesitate to contact the ISSO if we can help in any way. Feel free to stop by the ISSO (Kutz Hall, Room 215), or we can be reached by email (isso@brandeis.edu) or by phone (781-736-3480).
Our thoughts and prayers to all during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
The ISSO Staff
