Experiential Learning

Brandeis wants its students to have direct engagement with the world outside the classroom. As a result, it places a strong emphasis on helping students put their knowledge into practice — for instance, at a neuroscience research lab, an internship at the House of Commons in the United Kingdom or a curatorial role at the university's Rose Art Museum.

More than 15 majors and minors offer internships for credit, and many other disciplines encourage and facilitate internships and other experiential-learning paths.

Below are some of the categories of experiential learning activities; these may be courses, independent projects supervised by faculty, or part of a study abroad program. In addition, Brandeis offers an array of not-for-credit opportunities for student leadership and volunteer projects, which involve learning by doing.
