Experiential Learning
Brandeis wants its students to have direct engagement with the world outside the classroom. As a result, it places a strong emphasis on helping students put their knowledge into practice — for instance, at a neuroscience research lab or an internship at the House of Commons in the United Kingdom.
More than 15 majors and minors offer internships for credit, and many other disciplines encourage and facilitate internships and other experiential-learning paths.
Below are some of the categories of experiential learning activities; these may be courses, independent projects supervised by faculty, or part of a study abroad program. In addition, Brandeis offers an array of not-for-credit opportunities for student leadership and volunteer projects, which involve learning by doing.
