The Presidents
Sari Nusseibeh is president of Al-Quds University. Dr. Nusseibeh is responsible for envisioning the partnership with Dr. Jehuda Reinharz, president of Brandeis University. President Nusseibeh held discussions with President Reinharz in early 2003 in which the two presidents envisioned a partnership that would strengthen both institutions. President Nusseibeh visited Brandeis in September 2004 and June 2005 as part of Al-Quds planning delegations, and hosted Brandeis delegations at Al-Quds University in December 2003, February 2004, December 2005 and January 2007. He also visited Brandeis on October 11, 2007 as part of the "Meet the Author" series.
Jehuda Reinharz is president of Brandeis University. He envisioned the partnership with Dr. Sari Nusseibeh, president of Al-Quds University. President Reinharz began discussion with the Al-Quds president in early 2003 about the benefits of a partnership that would strengthen the academic offerings and administrative capacity of both institutions. He has visited Al-Quds and hosted several Al-Quds delegations at Brandeis.
Project Leaders
Khuloud Khayyat Dajani serves as project director for the Brandeis/Al-Quds partnership at Al-Quds and is co-chair of the partnership steering committee. She is a professor in social medicine and health policy at Al-Quds University, the assistant to the board of trustees and the president, the dean of public health, and the head of the child institute for health and development. She also co-directs the public health academic exchange with Brandeis Heller School professor AK Nandakumar. Dr. Dajani visited Brandeis in September 2004 and June 2005 to advance the conception of the partnership and plan its implementation. She met with A.K. Nandakumar when he visited Palestine in 2006 for the Health Policy exchange.
Daniel Terris is the associate vice president for global affairs and the director of the International Center for Ethics, Justice and Public Life at Brandeis University. He serves as project director for the partnership at Brandeis and is co-chair of the partnership steering committee. He also co-directs the American Studies exchange with Mohammed Dajani. He visited Al-Quds in December 2003, February 2005, December 2005 and January 2007 to plan and implement the partnership.
Steering Committee
Imad Abu Kishek serves as vice president for administrative and financial affairs at Al-Quds University. He leads the partnership's Administration and Finance exchange. He has spent two years at Brandeis, where he met with senior administration officials and created a strategic operating plan for Al-Quds.
Musa Bajali is the dean of the school of dentistry at Al-Quds University. He is also the acting assistant to the president for financial and administrative affairs. He has hosted Brandeis University delegates to Al-Quds in 2003 and 2005. He participates in the Administration and Finance exchange and is an acting member of the Steering Committee in Imad Abu Kishek's absence from Al-Quds.
Hassan Dweik is Al-Quds University's executive vice president and a member of the Brandeis/Al-Quds partnership steering committee. Dr. Dweik met with Brandeis University partnership delegates in Jerusalem in December 2004, February 2005 and December 2005. He co-directs the Science Education exchange with Robert Lange.
John Hose is executive assistant to the president and associate vice president for university affairs at Brandeis University. Dr. Hose is a member of the steering committee that oversees the partnership. He visited Al-Quds in December 2003 for initial partnership planning and hosted the Al-Quds steering committee at Brandeis in September 2004 and June 2005.
Adnan Rashid al-Manasra is vice president for planning and development at Al-Quds University. He is a member of the steering committee that oversees the partnership. He visited Brandeis University in September 2004 and June 2005 to advance the conception of the partnership and plan its implementation. He hosted Brandeis delegates to Al-Quds in December 2003, February 2005 and December 2005.
Neil Simister is associate professor of biology at Brandeis University. He is a member of the steering committee that oversees the partnership. Dr. Simister visited Al-Quds in December 2003 to plan the initial partnership and hosted Al-Quds University delegations in September 2004 and June 2005.

Ziad Abdeen is associate professor of community health at Al-Quds University. He visited Brandeis in September 2004.
Khalil Muhammad Khalil Adwan is a student in the faculty of Medicine at Al-Quds University who participated in the undergraduate summer institute in Turkey.
Labib Arafeh is the assistant to the vice president for Academic Affairs at Al-Quds University. He participates in the Effective Teaching exchange and visited Brandeis in October 2006 to meet with Brandeis faculty, students, and administrators.
Ziad Abu Awad is assistant to the dean for student affairs at Al-Quds University. He participates in the undergraduate student exchange. He served as the student affairs leader for the undergraduate summer institute in Istanbul, Turkey.
Ghadeer Abu Kishek serves as the coordinator of public relations at Al-Quds Educational Television. She is spending two years at Brandeis coordinating the Communications exchange for Al-Quds University, where she is translating English documents and the partnership website into Arabic and facilitating the relationship between Brandeis and Al-Quds.
Nasser Alafandi is the director of services at Al-Quds University. He participates in the Administration and Finance exchange, and visited Brandeis in May 2006. Mr. Alafandi met with Brandeis administrators in order to understand the campus operations department at Brandeis. He participated in the creation of a strategic plan for Al-Quds.
Rola Alafandi is the director of public relations at Al-Quds University. She participates in the Communications exchange and visited Brandeis in May 2006. Ms. Alafandi worked with the Brandeis Communications Department to create fundraising and public relations material for Al-Quds.
Mohammed Alamayra is personnel technology specialist at Al-Quds University. He participates in the Administration and Finance exchange and visited Brandeis in May 2006. Mr. Alamayra met with members of the Human Resources Information System group at Brandeis, as well as other technology groups, in order to develop a connection between payroll and financial affairs at Al-Quds University.
Anwar Alhalabiea is a student of political science at the College of Arts at Al-Quds University and president of the student council.
Zakaria Al-Qaq is vice president for Academic Affairs at Al-Quds University. He co-directs the Communications exchange. He hosted Brandeis University visitors to Al-Quds in December 2005.
Joyce Antler is the Samuel B. Lane professor of American Jewish History and Culture and Professor of Women’s Studies. She participates in the American Studies exchange and served as a faculty advisor to the visiting Al-Quds students in March 2006.
Matt Ashland is a classroom technology specialist at Brandeis University. He helped implement sound system technology for the American Studies celebration at Brandeis in March 2006.
Sherri Avery is associate director for financial aid and student employment at Brandeis University. She is a Brandeis counterpart for a visiting Al-Quds University administrator and hosted Al-Quds visitors in May 2006.
Mark Auslander is a lecturer in anthropology and director of the MA program in cultural production at Brandeis University. He participated in the American Studies exchange, serving as a faculty advisor to the visiting Al-Quds students in March 2006. He also participated in the Effective Teaching exchange and hosted Al-Quds delegates in October 2006.
Feras Barakat is Al-Quds University's general accountant. He participates in the Administration and Finance exchange and visited Brandeis in May 2006. He met with members of the Financial Affairs office, as well as members of Library and Technology Services.
Zena Barakat is an MA candidate Al-Quds University's American Studies Institute. She traveled to Brandeis University in 2006 to meet with American Studies faculty and students, and to research her thesis.
Alwina Bennett is assistant provost for graduate student affairs at Brandeis University. She was the student affairs leader for the undergraduate summer institute in Istanbul, Turkey in August 2007.
Eliana Zeidan Berkley is an MA candidate at Al-Quds University’s American Studies Institute. She traveled to Brandeis University in March 2006 to meet with American Studies faculty and students, and to research her thesis.
Jason Bernard is a reference librarian at Brandeis University. He helped coordinate Brandeis Library and Technology Services support of the American Studies exchange in March 2006, and taught a library workshop during the exchange, and provided personal reference help to visiting Al-Quds University students.
Stan Bolotin is assistant director of sponsored programs at Brandeis. He participates in the exchange by managing the financial relationship with the funder.
Tony Chiefe is senior director of financial systems at Brandeis University. He participates in the Administration and Finance exchange as a Brandeis counterpart to a visiting Al-Quds University administrator.
Mark Collins is vice president for campus operations at Brandeis. He works on the Administration and Finance exchange. He has met with Imad Abu Kishek to help orient him to Brandeis operations. He met with members of the Al-Quds University delegation in May 2006 and participated in discussions surrounding the Al-Quds strategic plan.
Jerry Cohen is associate professor of American Studies at Brandeis. He participated in the American Studies exchange in March 2006.
Mohammed Dajani is the director and founder of the American Studies Institute at Al-Quds University. He co-directs the partnership's American Studies academic exchange with Daniel Terris, and visited Brandeis in 2005 to plan the exchange. He led a delegation of four Al-Quds American Studies graduate students to Brandeis in 2006.
Ameen Dawabshe is the director of grants and projects at Al-Quds University. He participates in the Administration and Finance exchange, and in May 2006 visited Brandeis University, where he met with members of the Sponsored Programs Department and members of Library and Technology Services.
Jonathan Decter is assistant Professor and Edmond J. Safra Professor of Sephardic Studies at Brandeis University. He participates in the Effective Teaching exchange and hosted visiting Al-Quds faculty in October 2006.
Lori Dembowitz is director of library and technology services at Brandeis University. She hosted Al-Quds University visitors in 2006 and provided leadership regarding Brandeis University’s library and technology offerings during Al-Quds visits.
Daniel DeWolff is a graphic designer and web developer at Al-Quds University. He is participating in the Communications exchange, and visited Brandeis University in May 2006. Mr. DeWolff works with the Brandeis Communications Department to create fundraising and marketing materials for Al-Quds University.
Omar Dhaher is an instructor in the Computer Science department at Al-Quds University. He participates in the Effective Teaching exchange and visited Brandeis in fall 2006 to meet with Brandeis faculty, students, and administrators.
Jean Eddy is senior vice president for students and enrollment at Brandeis University. She participates in the undergraduate student exchange by providing leadership and resources.
Jumana Tawfiq Edkeidek is a student in the faculty of dentristry at Al-Quds University who participated in the undergraduate summer institute in Turkey.
David Elwell is the director of the International Students and Scholars Office at Brandeis University. He assists international students and scholars with issues related to visas, immigration, and arrival in the United States.
Joe Farbeann majors in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies and History at Brandeis. He participated in the undergraduate summer institute in Turkey.
Dan Feldman is the associate vice president for planning, design and construction at Brandeis University. He works on the Administration and Finance exchange with Imad Abu Kishek, focusing on Brandeis capital planning and projects and providing feedback to him on the Al-Quds strategic plan.
Greg Freeze is the Victor and Gwendolyn Beinfield Professor of History and associate dean of graduate studies. He participates in the Effective Teaching Exchange and hosted an Al-Quds delegation in fall 2006.
Peter French is the executive vice president and chief operating officer at Brandeis University. He serves as a senior advisor to the Administration and Finance exchange and has met with Imad Abu Kishek regarding the formation of the Al-Quds strategic plan. He meets periodically with Mr. Abu Kishek and provided crucial feedback into the development of the plan. Mr. Abu Kishek has met with Mr. French's senior staff to understand the structure and operations at Brandeis.
Thara Fuller is the academic coordinator of community-engaged learning in the Office of the Dean of Arts and Sciences at Brandeis University. She participates in the Effective Teaching Exchange and hosted an Al-Quds delegation in fall 2006.
Ofer Ben Gai is director of dibursement cashiering in the Brandeis payroll office. He participates in the exchange by assisting with many of the financial aspects of the exchange.
Richard Gaskins is Proskauer Chair in Law and Social Welfare at Brandeis. He participated in the American Studies exchange and served as an academic advisor to the visiting Al-Quds students.
David Gil is Professor of Social Policy at the Heller School at Brandeis. He participated in the American Studies exchange and served as an academic advisor to the visiting Al-Quds students.
Debra Gratto formerly served as the associate vice president for human resources and employee relations at Brandeis University. She worked on the Administration and Finance exchange and met with Imad Abu Kishek to orient him to the Brandeis human resources systems. She also met with the Administration and Finance delegation in May 2006 and provided feedback into the Al-Quds University strategic plan.
Ranin Ghazi Hadid is a student at Al-Quds University who participated in the undergraduate summer institute in Turkey.
Motasem Hamdan is an assistant professor of health policy and management at Al-Quds University. He participates in the Effective Teaching exchange and visited Brandeis in 2006 as part of the exchange.
Perry Hanson, the vice president for information technology and vice provost for libraries at Brandeis University, co-directs the Administration and Finance exchange with Imad Abu Kishek. He works with Mr. Abu Kishek to orient him to all Brandeis departments and systems and helped him develop a strategic plan for Al-Quds. He visited Al-Quds in December 2003 for initial partnership planning and hosted Al-Quds administrators in their many visits to Brandeis.
Tim Hickey is professor and chair of Computer Science and chair of the Internet Studies Program at Brandeis University. He participates in the Effective Teaching exchange and hosted visiting Al-Quds faculty in fall 2006.
Janet Hill is an applications project leader at Brandeis University. She hosted the Al-Quds American Studies exchange participants in March 2006.
Leslie Homzie is a reference librarian at Brandeis University. She provided personal reference help to visiting Al-Quds University students during the American Studies exchange.
Omar Abu Humos is a professor of English Language at Al-Quds University. He participates in the Effective Teaching exchange and visited Brandeis in 2006 as part of the exchange.
Ashraf Ibrahim is the partnership coordinator for the Administrative and Financial exchange for Al-Quds University. He works in the Budgeting and Financial Analysis Department at Al-Quds. He helps coordinate the Al-Quds University steering committee and hosted Brandeis delegates to Al-Quds in 2005.
Adam Jaffe is the dean of arts and sciences and the Fred C. Hecht professor in economics. He co-directs the Effective Teaching exchange and hosted Al-Quds University delegates to Brandeis in September 2004 and March 2006. He hosted additional delegates in the fall of 2006.
Khalil Jamoos is an IT specialist in Al-Quds University’s library. He participates in the Administration and Finance exchange and visited Brandeis University in May 2006, where he met with members of the Brandeis Library and Technology Services department.
Christine Jildeh is the international coordinating officer at Al-Quds University. In that role, she is responsible for coordinating many aspects of the Brandeis/Al-Quds partnership. She visited Brandeis in September 2004 as part of the partnership planning team and hosted Brandeis delegates to Al-Quds in December 2003, February 2005, and December 2005.
Randa Kamal is the director of the libraries at Al-Quds University. She visited Brandeis in September 2004 as part of a planning delegation.
Ibrahim Kayali visited Brandeis in September 2004 as part of a planning delegation.
Jessica Kent majors in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies at Brandeis. She participated in the undergraduate summer institute in Turkey.
Daoud Kuttab is the founder and director of the Institute of Modern Media at Al-Quds University, which includes Al-Quds Educational Television. He is helping to produce a film to document the partnership and participates in the Communications exchange. Mr. Kuttab has hosted Brandeis University delegates to Al-Quds University in 2003 and 2005.
Marty Wyngaarden Krauss is the provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs and the John Stein professor of disability research at Brandeis University. She is co-leading the Effective Teaching exchange with Said Zeedani. She hosted Al-Quds University delegates to Brandeis in September 2004.
Fadwa al-Labadi is the director of the INSAN Center for Gender and Women's Studies at Al-Quds and co-directs the Women's Studies exchange with Shulamit Reinharz. She visited Brandeis in September 2004 as part of the partnership planning team and hosted a Brandeis delegation at Al-Quds in December 2005.
Dalia Labadi is an MA candidate at Al-Quds University's American Studies Institute. She traveled to Brandeis University in 2006 to meet with American Studies faculty and students, and to research her thesis.
Robert Lange, physics professor at Brandeis University, works on the Effective Teaching Exchange. He visited Al-Quds University in October 2007 to further develop partnerships in the sciences.
Susan S. Lanser is a professor and chair of the Women's Studies Program at Brandeis University. She participates in the Effective Teaching exchange and traveled to Al-Quds University in June 2006 to further plan the exchange. She hosted an Al-Quds delegation to Brandeis in May 2005 and late 2006. In October 2007, she co-led the Effective Teaching Workshop at Al-Quds and further developed the exchange.
Tracey Leger-Hornby is assistant vice president for human resources/business redesign. She participates in the Administration and Finance Exchange as a Brandeis counterpart for a visiting Al-Quds administrator. She also gave a presentation to the visiting administrators on Brandeis human resources business practices.
Marya Levenson is the director of the Education Program at Brandeis University. She participates in the Effective Teaching Exchange and traveled to Al-Quds in October 2007.
Mike Lovett is the university photographer at Brandeis. He participates in the Communications exchange. He visited Al-Quds in December 2005 to take photographs and gather materials for the partnership website and documentation. His photographs were on display in March 2006 when the American Studies delegation from Al-Quds visited Brandeis. Further, his photographs are found on the partnership website and in all of the documentation of the Brandeis/Al-Quds partnership.
Joseph Lumbard is an assistant professor in Classical Islam at Brandeis University. He participates in the Effective Teaching exchange and hosted visiting Al-Quds faculty in fall 2006.
Gabriela Lupatkin majors in Psychology at Brandeis. She participated in the undergraduate summer institute in Turkey.
Najah Manasra is the acting director for the Insan Center for Gender Studies and Research at Al-Quds University. She participates in the Effective Teaching exchange and visited Brandeis in fall 2006 to meet with Brandeis faculty, students, and administrators.
Yael Mazor majors in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies at Brandeis. She participated in the undergraduate summer institute in Turkey.
Bryan McAllister-Grande is the assistant director of the Office of Global Affairs at Brandeis University. He coordinates the partnership logistics and details.
Lorna Miles is the senior vice president for communications at Brandeis University. She directs the Communications exchange. She visited Al-Quds in December 2005 as part of the exchange, meeting with members of Al-Quds University and planning exchange activities. Ms. Miles also co-directs the documentation and branding of the partnership.
Nidal Mohsen is a financial aid technology specialist at Al-Quds University. He participates in the Administration and Finance exchange and visited Brandeis University in 2006, where he met with members of Student Services and Library and Technology Services.
Maureen Murphy is vice president for financial affairs and treasurer at Brandeis University. She works on the Administration and Finance exchange with Imad Abu Kishek. She met with Mr. Abu Kishek and helped orient him to the financial affairs systems at Brandeis. She also contributed feedback to the strategic plan for Al-Quds.
Hala Nabris is assistant to the dean of registration at Al-Quds. She visited Brandeis in September 2004 as part of a planning delegation.
Garrett Nada majors in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at Brandeis. He participated in the undergraduate summer institute in Turkey.
A.K. Nandakumar is Professor of the Practice at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. Dr. Nandakumar co-directs the Public Health exchange with Khuloud Khayyat Dajani of Al-Quds. He hosted the Al-Quds delegation to Brandeis in June 2005 and visited Al-Quds in 2006 as part of the exchange.
David Nathan is director of development communications at Brandeis University. He participated in the Communications exchange. He hosted a delegation from Al-Quds in June 2005 and worked closely with Ghadeer Abu Kishek. He was also part of the team creating the partnership website.
Dennis Nealon is director of media relations at Brandeis University. He works on the Communications exchange and hosted Al-Quds visitors in September 2004. He also coordinates the "Meet the Author" series, which hosted President Nusseibeh in October 2007.

Zakaria al-Qaq is the vice president for external affairs at Al-Quds University. He co-directs the Communications exchange with Lorna Miles. He hosted Brandeis University delegates in December 2005.

Shulamit Reinharz directs the Women's Studies Research Center at Brandeis. She visited Al-Quds University in December 2003 to plan the initial partnership. Dr. Reinharz also hosted Al-Quds delegation members in their visit to Brandeis in September 2004 and June 2005.
John Richard serves as assistant vice president for budget and planning at Brandeis University. He participated in the Administration and Finance exchange by serving as a counterpart to Feras Barakat during the May 2006 Al-Quds visit. He helped orient Al-Quds visitors to Brandeis's budget procedures.
Ian Rifkin is a web specialist at Brandeis University. He participated in the Communications exchange by helping to create the partnership website.
Chris Roppola is a computer classroom coordinator at Brandeis University. He participates in the partnership by providing classroom technology support and leadership.

Anna Tomecka is chief technology officer at Brandeis University. She participates in the partnership with Al-Quds by making technology resources available and providing technology leadership.
J. Scott Van Der Meid is director of study abroad at Brandeis University. He participates in the undergraduate student exchange.
Susan Wawrzaszek is chief university librarian at Brandeis University. She participates in the partnership with Al-Quds by making resources available and providing leadership.
David Wedaman is assistant director for research and instruction services at Brandeis University. He provided resources and leadership in the American Studies exchange and Effective Teaching exchange, and he hosted Al-Quds University students and faculty during the exchanges.
Steve Whitfield is Max Richter professor of American Civilization at Brandeis. He participates in the American Studies exchange and served as an academic advisor to the visiting Al-Quds students.
Josh Wilson is associate director of Library and Technology Services at Brandeis University. He works on the Administration and Finance exchange with Imad Abu Kishek. He met with Mr. Abu Kishek to help develop ideas for the Al-Quds strategic plan. He helped plan the May 2006 visit of administrators to Brandeis.
Stephanie Gerber Wilson served as special projects manager, handling partnership details and logistics. She managed all the partnership's exchanges as well as the fundraising effort for the next phase of the partnership. She was part of the team that created the partnership website. She visited Al-Quds University in December 2005 and hosted Al-Quds delegations in September 2004, June 2005, March 2006, May 2006 and October 2006. Stephanie is now the assistant director of the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies at Brandeis.
Elaine Wong is the senior associate dean of arts and sciences at Brandeis. She participates in the Effective Teaching exchange. She visited Al-Quds University in May 2006 to further the exchange and hosted delegates to Brandeis in October 2006. In October 2007, she co-led the Effective Teaching Workshop at Al-Quds and further developed the exchange.
Munther Muhammad Zahaika is a student at Al-Quds University who participated in the undergraduate summer institute in Turkey.
Said Zeedani is the vice president of academic affairs at Al-Quds University. He is participating in the Effective Teaching exchange with Elaine Wong, Marya Levenson and Susan S. Lanser. He hosted Brandeis University delegates to Al-Quds in December 2005 and October 2007. He visited Brandeis in April 2007 and was the Al-Quds faculty leader for the Summer Institute in Turkey in August 2007.
