"American Folk Tunes and Dances"
The Brandeis Wind Ensemble will be performing
music inspired by folk tunes and dances from across the United States.
Frank Ticheli's Cajun Folk Songs draws from two folk songs from the bayou's of
Louisiana.
Robert W. Smith's Songs of Earth, Water, Fire and Sky pulls
together arrangements of ceremonial music from various Native American
tribes.
Robert Bennett's Suite of Old American Dances offers a musical
buffet of stylized dances from the early 1900's.
And, finally, David Holsinger's Havendance. While in Missouri, Holsinger was inspired by his
daughter, Haven's, very energetic dance and became the first of a series of
"Children's Dances."
