The Application Process
> Where to Apply? There is no easy way to arrive at the list of schools that is appropriate for YOU. It takes time and research. There is no standard list that can simply be handed to you. There are, however, some basic guidelines that you may wish to use. More detail is provided in the Pre-Health Applicant Handbook.
Statistics regarding acceptance rates and admissions data on individual schools can be found in the Applicant Handbook as well -- knowing where Brandeis students have been accepted, and where they have matriculated, may give you some insight on where students who enjoyed their experience here at Brandeis have tended to attend health professions schools. Dean Fukawa-Connelly also has contact information for alums at various health professions schools who are willing to share their knowledge.
In addition, all students should purchase a copy of their health professions' guide to schools. For med school, this is the Medical School Admissions Requirements (MSAR), for dental school, the ADEA Official Guide to Dental School; for vet school, Veterinary Medical School Admission Requirements. These books are comprehensive resource guides that provide an overview of each accredited US school within a given health profession. These are the only guides that are sanctioned by the professional organizations for the health professions.
