Nathan and Bertha Richter & Ernest Grunwald Awards


Who:
Brandeis University sophomores, juniors or seniors who have demonstrated high academic achievement in the School of Science are chosen each year. Awards enable students to undertake an original investigation in collaboration with a Brandeis University faculty member. Richter applicants are also encouraged to apply for the Undergraduate Summer Research Program at Brandeis University.

Eligibility Limitations:
You may not hold both a Richter and a Howard Hughes, IGERT or similar award in the same summer.

Amount of Award:
Students receive approximately $2,500 plus a $250 lab account. Non-US citizens may be subject to special tax witholding that reduces the amount of their check.

Duration:
Usualy 10 weeks during the summer (usually after sophomore or junior year)

Application Requirements:
academic record, proposed program of investigation, 2 letters of recommendation. Each award recipient is expected to write a summary of his/her research results at the end of the summer.

Campus Deadline:
February 26, 2007 (To be confirmed). Students are also encouraged to apply for the Undergraduate Research Program, although starting in 2007, a separate URP application is required.

Richter grantees will be notified by mid-April and are expected to commit to their award shortly thereafter.
