Jerome A. Schiff Undergraduate Fellows Program


Who:
Brandeis University sophomores, juniors or seniors together with a faculty sponsor apply to perform an innovative research or pedagogical project.

Eligibility Limitations:
Schiff Fellows generally apply as sophomores or juniors. First year students may apply, but should have strong support from their proposed mentor.

Amount of Award:
Approximately $2,000 reimbursement for teaching/research expenses. Non-US citizens are subject to special tax deductions. The faculty mentor also receives a stipend.

Duration:
The program the academic year. Some summer work is possible in the case of special circumstances (i.e. faculty member on leave; student abroad for one semester). Students and mentors participate in panel discussions and a work in progress showcase each year. Additional programming for student fellows only varies based on student interest.

Application Requirements:
Proposed program of investigation, letters of recommendation, strong academic record.

Campus Deadline:
Tuesday, March 18, 2008

Notification:
Schiff fellows will be notified in April and are expected to commit to their award shortly thereafter. A reception is held each year for outgoing and incoming Schiff fellows and their mentors.
