Learning Outcomes

Each undergraduate department and graduate program at Brandeis is in the process of evaluating student learning.  The process for evaluation includes:

  • Review of the learning goals for major or graduate degree program
  • Direct assessment of student learning through the use of a portfolio system; review of papers, projects and presentations; or standardized exam
  • Indirect assessment of student learning through surveys or focus groups
  • The creation of a written report which summarizes the findings
  • The review of the report by faculty in the undergraduate major or graduate degree program
  • Changes to courses or the curriculum based on the findings of the report
