Want to be part of the action? We're always looking for new Brandeis undergraduates to join the team.
BEMCo is student staffed and student run. To join BEMCo you must be a Brandeis University undergraduate student, a certified EMT in Massachusetts and certified through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians® (NREMT).
For information on joining BEMCo, please see the information below that is applicable to your credentials.
BEMCo always welcomes new members who are current Massachusetts EMTs. We hold a group orientation at the beginning of each semester.
To join us, contact the BEMCo Administrator or email firstname.lastname@example.org. You will be added to the New Member Orientation listserv, which will be used to distribute information regarding dates, locations and requirements for orientation. Orientation covers all BEMCo specific protocol and policies, and will include skills stations and a campus map test. At orientation, you will also receive your BEMCo number and paperwork that will be completed during orientation.
You must have a valid EMT certification in Massachusetts in order to join BEMCo. If you are certified in another state, it is possible to obtain reciprocity in Massachusetts. You will need to be nationally certified through National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians® (NREMT) if you are not already, as well as getting verification from your home state before applying for Massachusetts EMT certification.
Contact us for more information or if you need assistance in the certification process for Massachusetts.

If you anticipate being fully certified by the end of the upcoming semester, contact the BEMCo Training Officer or email email@example.com to be added to the New Member Orientation listserv, which will be used to distribute information regarding dates, locations and requirements for orientation. New member orientation in the Fall semester generally takes place within the first two weeks of September. You will receive more information about this in August. Another new member orientation will take place early in the Spring semester, generally in the third week of January. Orientation covers BEMCo specific protocol and policies, and will include skills stations and a campus map test. Please complete all of your paperwork including application materials, prior to orientation and bring it with you on the first day.
You can be added to the orientation listserv and attend New Member orientation before you get your Massachusetts EMT card. However, before you take a shift, you must have your NREMT and Massachusetts EMT certifications, as well as a current US Driver's License and current healthcare provider CPR Card. Additionally, once you have done New Member Orientation, be sure to take at least one shift that semester, otherwise you will be required to re-attend New Member Orientation.
We strongly encouraged you to complete the application process over the summer.
