History
Established in 2009 with generous funding from the Genesis Philanthropy Group, the Brandeis-Genesis Institute (BGI) provides scholarships to Russian-speaking Jews to attend Brandeis University at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels.
In the summer of 2009, BGI welcomed its first, fully-funded cohort of more than two dozen Russian-speaking high school students from around the world to Brandeis for the Genesis and BIMA programs.
In Fall 2009, 16 undergraduates will begin their studies at Brandeis University with significant funding from BGI, and three graduate students will join Brandeis University’s Hornstein Jewish Professional Leadership Program, as fully funded BGI Fellows.
In Fall 2010, BGI will support its inaugural doctoral fellowships in the area of Russian Jewish studies.
