New addition to BGI - a series of intellectual and engaging conversations with Prof. Olga Litvak. In this session, we explored (and exploded!) some common historical myths about the character of Russian Jewry.  We asked why are Russian Jews are so often viewed through a haze of nostalgia for a lost traditional world and analyzed critically some of the most important buzzwords in the construction of the Russian-Jewish past, including shtetl and pogrom.

This event was presented by the Brandeis-Genesis Institute for Russian Jewry.
