As part of Russian Culture Week 2012, Firelech Jewish Musical Theater presented a compilation of songs that brought the audience back to their childhood memories, inspired them to carry on a custom or gave them an introduction to a rich culture that has transpired musical essence since the beginning of humankind.
Lucky Ten, the theater’s young talent group inspired by Australia’s world famous “Ten Tenors”, participated with their award-winning voices and dance. Trained by Boston Lyric Opera’s Alexander Prokhorov and award winning choreographer, Anna Kravets at The Lucky Ten Studio in Brighton, this young group carries a spectra of voices that have astonished audiences across the nation.
The theater was filled to capacity and the audience was visibly moved by the performance. Every age group was represented by people from the Brandeis community and also from the Russian speaking Jewish community in Boston. The evening was poignant and emotially charged and came to a close with the performers and the audience came together to enjoy Russian tea, discuss the performance and reminisce about the connections to their family and their roots.
This event was co-sponsored by the Brandeis-Genesis Institute for Russian Jewry, the Russian Studies Program and the Brandeis Russian Club.
