Brandeis National Committee is dedicated to providing philanthropic support to Brandeis University, a distinguished liberal arts and research university founded by the American Jewish community. Our membership comprises women and men who share a passion for life-long learning and for the mission of Brandeis University.
About the Boca Raton Chapter
Since its founding, our chapter has helped raise millions of dollars to support the University’s libraries, student scholarships and advanced science research programs, including BNC’s Science Research Laboratory for Neurodegenerative Diseases. In addition to fundraising, we participate in a variety of informative, intellectually stimulating and enjoyable programs and events. As of June 30, 2012, our Boca Raton chapter remains the largest BNC chapter in the nation with 911 annual members and more than 400 life members. On March 26, 2012, we organized an event "Breakfast with Brandeis". All 133 attendees were entranced by Gloria Shusterman, whose father, Eddie Jacobson was a business partner of Harry Truman. Eddie was a key figure in convincing Harry Truman to meet with Chaim Weitzman, who went on to persuade Truman to have the United States recognize the state of Israel. We have a very active, vibrant chapter, with members who live in Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Coral Springs, and Delray Beach.
Social Justice Opportunities
JARC offers a uniquely rewarding volunteer opportunity with the Boca Raton Chapter. Our involvement makes a meaningful difference in the lives of the developmentally challenged adults (residents of JARC homes) who are delighted to have us share some of our time with them–playing bingo and visiting. There is no doubt we get back more than we give.
