The process for submitting budgets on gift funds is the same as that for budgets on University's general or endowed funds (i.e., the budget worksheets distributed to managers in May of each year will include budgets on gift funds). Budget managers should budget no more than the current gift balance less any remaining current year expenses and overhead charges.
Budget managers are encouraged to submit budgets for every gift that they expect to use, including gifts received during the fiscal year. If you receive a gift after the regular budget process is completed and need to budget for it, please refer to the Forms section of the Budget website.
When preparing your expense budgets, please remember to include any that gift overhead charges (usually 15% of expense excluding financial aid). Please refer to the University's gift overhead tax policy.
