Brandeis University, founded in 1948, has in its short history achieved acclaim as one of the finest research universities in the country. The vision and determination of a cadre of loyal supporters have helped make possible its growth in every arena of scholarship.

The University Libraries are central to the scholarship at Brandeis. The Brandeis University National Women's Committee (BUNWC), founded in the same year as the University, has played a pivotal role in maintaining the libraries. Its fundraising efforts have supported the growth of the libraries into a complex of sophisticated information centers, providing students and faculty with outstanding resources. In recent years, to assist the University in bringing students of high ability to Brandeis, BUNWC has expanded its mission to include raising support for scholarships and fellowships.

Since its founding, BUNWC has raised over $100 million in library support to maintain the high quality required by a great university. Well over one million books have been placed on the library shelves. Computer technology remains on the cutting edge. Journal subscriptions are maintained in print and electronic format. BUNWC offers its donors many choices for directing support for the Brandeis Libraries.
