About the Series
Foreign relations is a primary constitutional responsibility of the president of the United States.
Never has it been more important than in the campaign now underway. Not just in Iraq, but in Iran, Turkey, Israel and Egypt tensions on the ground are high and US policy is under fire for making matters worse. It is vitally important that citizens be informed on presidential candidates’ ideas for stabilizing the region and reversing the trend toward ever-greater resentment toward United States there.
Brandeis University, home to some of the finest scholars and research on the Middle East, is training a spotlight on the region and the challenges the region presents to the next president.
This summer at Boston’s historic Old State House, the university is hosting a series of forums on Middle East topics and their potential political implications in the United States. The university’s focus on Middle East issues in the campaign will intensify in the fall with an extensive series of political events, forums and films.
The one-hour-long, 8 a.m. summer events are aimed at downtown professionals in the business district and government center who are interested in the how Middle East problems affect U.S. politics, and who need a concise program that does not disrupt the work day.
All events are free and open to the public, but tickets are required due to limited seating capacity. Tickets may be obtained by calling 781-736-4210.
