Using the Campus Carbon Calculator software produced by Clean Air-Cool Planet, greenhouse gas inventories has been conducted by University staff and students over the past 2 years.  A GHG inventory is another name for a "carbon footprint". The goal of the inventory is to assess and identify major sources of emissions on campus, to identify actions that can be taken to reduce such emissions, and to monitor our progress on an annual basis.

The 2009 inventory is currently being completed as part of the University's long-term emissions reductions commitment, as outlined by the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment. The GHG inventory will be expanded to include emissions from campus commuting and air travel.
