Sustainability Across Disciplines, Campus, and the World

the Center for German and European Studies at Brandeis University (CGES)
invites you to attend:
Thursday, April 28, 2011
3:30pm
Shapiro Admissions Center Presentation Room
Brandeis Campus
with Dr.Roland Schindler, Executive Director of the Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems
and Dr. Harry Lehmann, Chairman of the Environmental Strategies Division of the Federal Environmental Agency (Umweltbundesamt), Germany, among others.
25 years after the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear plant on April 26, 1986 in the Northern Ukraine (then still part of the Soviet Union), and only weeks after Japanese authorities concluded that the situation at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant must also be considered a nuclear disaster of the highest possible order, experts gather at Brandeis to discuss the lessons to be learned from these events and whether the world's continuously growing energy needs can be met with safe, renewable alternatives.
This event is organized in cooperation with the Goethe Institute Boston.
Please visit http://www.goethe.de/ins/us/
for three related film screenings at the Goethe Institute on April 29, May 2, and May 26 at 7pm respectively.
