Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a capital project?A capital project is a project that involves the construction or renovation of fixed assets, such as buildings or infrastructure.2. When should I contact Facilities Services and when should I contact the Office of Capital Projects?
If you need maintenance work, you should contact the Office of Facilities Services. (You may want to use their web-based work-order system.)
The Office of Capital Projects generally is responsible for capital projects (see FAQ #1) involving $1 million or more in expenditure. Facilities Services is also involved in managing some capital projects at Brandeis, generally those that involve expenditure of less than $1 million. The two Offices do cooperate extensively, and at times participate in the management of projects that are on the other side of the "million dollar line."
