Pnina G. Abir-Am was elected Vice-President of the International Commission of Women in the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine during the 23rd International Congress for History of Science held in Budapest, Hungary between July 27-August 2. At that Congress, Pnina also presented a paper researched with her two SSP students (Cristina Luo and Pinar Ozisik, both Brandeis '11) in a two-session Symposium on Collaborative Couples in the Sciences, on July 31, 2009. Pnina also persuaded the Russian delegation at the Congress to increase the number of women speakers at an upcoming conference in St. Petersburg.
