The Massaai House
If you are on campus you will notice a new structure right in front of Usdan (see image attached). In cooperation with the German solar company Phaesun, Brandeis Professor emeritus of physics Robert Lange collaborates with Massaai households in Tanzania to cut their carbon emissions by using stoves that consume one-third less wood and providing them with solar panels. The project models how crafting an informal carbon trading market can help even remote communities cut emissions and use more green energy and at the same time dramatically improve people’s health and well-being.
