Janet Krasner Aronson, PhDJanet Aronson
Associate Research Scientist

Janet Krasner Aronson is an Associate Research Scientist at the Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies and Steinhardt Social Research Institute. She earned her PhD in social policy at the Heller School at Brandeis University. She has been a member of the Taglit-Birthright Israel team, the Israel studies team, and currently manages several Jewish community studies projects. Her dissertation focused on the “ripple effects” of social intervention programs, specifically the ways in which Taglit-Birthright Israel impacts the parents of participants.

Prior to joining CMJS, Janet worked as a computer programmer, a systems analyst, and a graphic designer, and religious school teacher. She was a member of the first cohort of the Barnard College/Jewish Theological Seminary double-degree program, in which she earned bachelor's degrees in computer science and Bible. She earned a certificate in graphic design from Northeastern University and an MA in applied sociology from University of Massachusetts-Boston where she taught undergraduate sociology courses.
