International Day of Democracy - On September 15, 2009 CI and the Master's Program in Coexistence and Conflict co-sponsored a Graduate Student Symposium "International Perspectives on Democracy".

Observed on September 15th each year since 2007, the International Day of Democracy was established by the United Nations General Assembly as a day for inter-governmental and nongovernmental organizations to draw attention to democracy and its values.

In recognition of this day, presentations were given by six members of the incoming class of Master’s in Coexistence graduate students, who are arriving from 5 countries and three continents.

Students gave brief presentations on topics related to democracy in the context of their home countries, followed by a question and answer period.
