Coexistence PolicyCI identifies policy areas that have the potential to make positive contributions to coexistence and social inclusion (e.g. education in divided societies, indigenous and minority rights, and laws impacting land use); prepares reports, papers and recommendations; convenes meetings with key stakeholders at the level of CSOs and intergovernmental institutions; and provides materials, resources and trainings. These efforts inform the policymaking environment that can impact coexistence on the ground, while CI’s networks help to ensure dissemination, awareness, and support for coexistence-sensitive public policy. Socially inclusive policies within governments and organizations can contribute to sustainable coexistence. Without such policies, efforts to improve inter-group relations can be sporadic and ineffective. CI’s policy efforts are designed to provide examples of coexistence-sensitive practice and guidance that can be used by governments and policymakers to strengthen coexistence approaches.
