Information for Faculty

Brandeis University will hold its 59th Commencement exercises on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. This page contains helpful information specifically for faculty. The final Commencement schedule will be posted in this space following final exams in Spring 2010.

Attendance Registration

The online registration to confirm your participation in Commencement exercises will be available in Spring 2010. An announcement will be sent by the Provost at that time. This form assists in planning for and coordinating a smooth-running event.

Regalia

The university will rent caps, gowns and hoods for you if you do not have your own regalia. Ordering regalia is done through the online registration (available Spring 2010).

Robing for Main Commencement

On Commencement day, the dance studio in the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center (basement level) will be open for robing beginning at 7:30 a.m. Faculty will assemble for the academic procession promptly between 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the dance studio.

Normally, faculty bring their regalia to the Mini-Commencement sites. Please work with your department administrator if you require an alternate arrangement.

Schedule for Commencement Day

Following is the schedule for the main Commencement ceremony in the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center on Sunday, May 23, 2010.

  • 7:30 a.m. — Regalia not picked up on Friday will be available in the dance studio (basement level).
  • 9:30 to 10 a.m. — Faculty robe and assemble for the academic procession in the dance studio.
  • 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Commencement ceremony.
  • 12:30 p.m. — Box lunch available in the dance studio.

Box Lunches

A box lunch and beverages for faculty will be available following the main Commencement ceremony.

Tickets for Main Commencement Ceremony

Tickets for the main Commencement will be available in Spring 2010 through the Conference and Event Services Office. A maximum of two tickets will be issued per person with the presentation of a current Brandeis ID.

Faculty members who are marching in the main Commencement ceremony do not need a ticket.

Parking

On Commencement day, all Gosman Center parking lots will be closed for general use and accessible only to those individuals with VIP blue-and-orange fluorescent hang-tag parking permits. Medical and handicapped parking information may be obtained by contacting the Office of Conference and Events at (781) 736-4300.

Faculty should park in regular weekday parking lots and walk to ceremony areas.
