Letter from the President

President Fred Lawrence

Dear Parents of Brandeis Seniors,

As your son or daughter works toward completing the fall semester of his or her senior year at Brandeis, it is my pleasure to write to you about Commencement Weekend, which will take place May 15-17, 2015.

Commencement is the culmination of your daughter or son's years of study and personal growth at Brandeis. More than 7,500 students, members of their families, friends and relatives will join in this milestone celebration of our graduates and their accomplishments. It is an experience that students and their families will remember forever.

This website will serve as the best source of Commencement Weekend information. I encourage you to check it regularly for the latest updates and the full schedule of events.

As you plan your weekend activities, please consider attending the President's Reception for graduates and their families, which is scheduled for Friday, May 15, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Shapiro Campus Center Atrium. Kathy and I look forward to welcoming you and having the opportunity to congratulate you and your graduate in person.

I encourage you to consider making your hotel reservations as soon as possible as hotel rooms in the Greater Boston area can be quite scarce during the spring commencement season. Be sure to mention your Brandeis affiliation.

As a parent myself, and also as President of this very special university, I share your sense of pride and satisfaction. Our students’ accomplishments speak to the quality of their efforts and the education they have received at Brandeis. I hope it has been a rich and rewarding experience for each of them, and that they will choose to maintain a lifelong association with their alma mater through the Alumni Association. As I have told our students on a number of occasions already, they are undergraduates for only four years, but they are alumni for the remainder of their lives.

Best regards,

Frederick M. Lawrence
