May 2013 Upgrade

On May 1, 2013, the CMS was upgraded to version 7.2.2.

New features of note included:

Automatic Draft Saving

Cascade 7 includes an automatic draft saving feature. Although the autosave function was developed to prevent accidental loss of work, we anticipate that there will be confusion surrounding drafts. We recommend clicking Submit each time you edit a page to avoid keeping drafts in the system.

Asset Chooser Changes & How to Disable New Search Feature

Cascade 7 offers two ways to find and select an asset (page, image, doc, etc.). If you click the blue rectangle, orange square or [ Search ], the new search box will appear. Enter part or all of the asset's System Name. When the file list appears, click on the correct file to select it. If you click the new Browse button (a magnifying glass on a piece of paper), the familiar pop-up dialog will open that allows you to navigate to the asset in the folder tree.

If you don't like the new search feature, you may disable it in your User Preferences. Click the My Settings link (to the left of the Log Out link at top right), check the box next to "Disable the Type-Ahead Chooser" and submit.

Decorative Image

When you insert an inline image via the WYSIWYG editor, you will see This is a decorative image with a checkbox in the Insert Image pop-up dialog (see a screenshot). A decorative image is a visual decoration or embellishment that does not have meaning and does not provide informative content to a website visitor. If you check the box next to This is a decorative image, the image will be ignored by assistive technology. Photographs are not decorative images and require alternate text.

Unpublish on Move/Rename

The Move/Rename function now unpublishes a live asset when you leave the Unpublish Content box checked. You no longer need to unpublish an asset separately to prevent "ghost" content from remaining on your site.
