Become a Community-Engaged Representative

In past semesters, Community-Engaged Representatives (CER) have played a vital role in the growing Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) program at Brandeis. They work closely with faculty mentors to develop and nurture close partnerships between Brandeis classes and community organizations. They helped educate and inform faculty and students about community engaged learning, helped community agencies learn about opportunities for partnership with Brandeis and helped raise general awareness about civic engagement on campus and in Waltham.

A CER does not receive academic credit unless an internship, independent study course or CEL 89 course can be arranged. Each CER follows an individualized plan according to the chosen focus. CERs also work in collaboration with other CERs and faculty to enhance the overall CEL program, helping to organize university-community events and submitting monthly updates on ongoing projects.
