Division of Creative Arts

Mission and Vision

The Division's vision is predicated on the belief that Brandeis must continue to distinguish itself as a vibrant and cutting-edge center for the arts, combining the study of traditions, as well as innovations. Creative new ways of thinking and making are the hallmark of the arts and have the capacity to invigorate our university's research, scholarship and teaching practices and infuse our community with energy and inspiration.

We aim to support, enhance, and showcase the arts on campus, including the Rose Art Museum and our world class faculty of artists and scholars who teach, create, perform, and display visual art, dance, music, theater, film, and multimedia compositions. We are also devoted to the overarching mission of Brandeis University: to promote diversity, pluralism, equity and social justice and to vigorously pursue an inclusive educational commitment, cultivating creativity, experimentation, and originality by teaching art to all our students, artists and non-artists alike.
