American Revolutionary: Grace Lee Boggs

Come join BAATF for a documentary viewing of the story of Grace Lee Boggs, a Detroit-based, Chinese American woman who fought for civil rights, feminism, and Asian American activism among other causes during the civil rights era. Following the movie, we will discuss her story and its relevance to the diverse Brandeis community, especially regarding intersectionality and interracial solidarity. 

BlackIsWeekEND: Issa Vibe Night

BBSO's BlackIsWeekEND: Issa Vibe, is meant to uplift and celebrate the contributions of Black Creatives on campus. We are creating a space where black students on campus feel comfortable to express themselves and to showcase a collective of different narratives and experiences from all walks of life. Historically, experiences, narratives, and artworks of black creatives have been appropriated/consumed by white eyes, and Issa Vibe is an attempt to reclaim black voices through different art forms.

This zine showcases the beautiful and varied narratives of Black women on Brandeis campus through the medium of poetry and storytelling. At this event, there will be food, self care activities, and music. You'll also hear some of the contributors and other special guest performers in a night full of healing, power, joy, and growth!

Healing, Pleasure, and Sex After Trauma Workshop

FMLA is excited to bring O.School—a new pleasure and sex education platform—to Brandeis this semester. This event will be facilitated by Sarah Byrnn Hollidy, a queer femme feminist sex blogger and educator with a background in abortion rights, queer + trans liberation, and pleasure-informed sex education. She runs, where she writes about how sexuality intersects with queerness, feminism, depression, and trauma. For O.School, Sarah helps people learn about how they can reclaim sex and pleasure after trauma.

In accordance with this year’s theme, Nyumbani, which means home in Swahili, Rebelle will be sharing the dance styles of various countries of the African diaspora that members of our team call home. We hope to engage the audience through the universal language of music and dance.
