Born and raised in Rhode Island, James most recently served as the Assistant Director for Operations and Community Development in DCL and before that as a Community Director for over 2,000 upperclass students at Brown University. Earlier in his career, James worked in various student affairs roles at MIT, Harvard, and Boston College (he’s not so secretly attempting to work at or attend all of the “B” schools in the Northeast). He comes to Brandeis with a Master’s in Social Work from Boston College and a Master’s in Higher Education Administration from Harvard University; he completed his undergraduate work in Psychology at Brown University.
James’ role in DCL is to manage operational projects and concerns, including: housing assignments and room selection, office technology, the department website, opening and closing of halls, damage billing, housing accommodation requests, and health & safety inspections.His professional interests include housing and business operations, staff selection, training and development, organizational behavior, and the changing nature of American higher education. Outside of work, James enjoys reading, writing, binge watching shows on Netflix, trivia, and exploring New England. You can find him in the DCL central office in Usdan Student Center.
