Maura Farrelly

Maura Jane Farrelly is Assistant Professor of American Studies and Director of the Journalism Program at Brandeis. She holds a PhD in History from Emory University, with an emphasis on the colonial and early American periods and on American religious history. She has taught previously at Emory, the University of Georgia, and Fordham University. Additionally, Professor Farrelly worked as a full-time journalist for seven years, first for Georgia Public Radio in Atlanta, and then for the Voice of America in Washington, DC, and New York. She has also freelanced for NPR, PRI, and the BBC. Right now Professor Farrelly's scholarly research focuses on Catholics in the South in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and on Methodist attempts to reconcile science with revealed religion in the nineteenth century. |
