Richard Gaskins

Richard Gaskins is director of the Legal Studies Program and Joseph M. Proskauer Professor of Law and Social Welfare. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and a J.D. from Yale University, and has held faculty appointments at Bryn Mawr College, the University of Chicago, and the New School for Social Research. His courses include the core Introduction to Law, and seminars on environmental policy, constitutional history and law, and American pragmatism. His research interests connect the fields of torts, social welfare, and environmental regulation, along with comparative studies in Iceland and New Zealand. He is the author of two books,
Enviromental Accidents (1989) and Burdens of Proof in Modern Discourse (1995).
