Laura Goldin

Laura Goldin is a Professor of Environmental Studies at Brandeis University, Director of the Environmental Internship Program and Associate Director of the Environmental Studies Program. She comes to Brandeis with 20 years experience as an environmental attorney in government, industry, public interest and private law practice. Her work has addressed a broad spectrum of environmental and environmental health issues, from hazardous waste, air and water pollution and resource protection; to toxic risk and environmental justice, occupational health and safety, and industrial ecology. She has argued precedent-setting environmental case law, and has been instrumental in crafting a number of environmental protection laws and regulations. Prior to her arrival at Brandeis, Laura served as General Counsel for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, where she was the chief environmental lawyer for the state and responsible for an office of 50 attorneys and administrative law judges. Before that she was Senior Environmental Attorney for Digital Equipment Corporation's world-wide operations, and earlier was an environmental attorney at the Boston law firm of Choate, Hall and Stewart. Laura has been a featured speaker at a number of national conferences on the environment, health and safety and law. She received her BA from Yale University, and her JD from Cornell University.
