Yosef Schaffel '13
Yosef is a senior at Brandeis University majoring in Economics and Business, with a minor in Journalism. Before becoming UDR, Yosef served as a teaching Assistant for Introduction to Economics (ECON 2a) for two semesters, and loved every minute of it. Through his work as a TA, Yosef learned valuable skills about interacting with students from all kinds of backgrounds and situations, and the experience of being a TA was a driving force towards wanting to be a UDR.
On campus, Yosef has been involved in quite a few different areas. The ones he is most proud of are, The Justice newspaper, and the Quidditch Club. Yosef joined The Justice as a staff photographer in the Spring of 2010, and subsequently served as a Photography Editor for one year, during 2011 and 2012. Additionally, Yosef helped to co-found the Quidditch club, serving as Treasurer in late 2010. These two extracurricular positions allowed Yosef to grow both as an individual and team player, and he is extremely grateful for the experiences.
Though his two majors encompass a large field of potential careers, Yosef sees himself working either in real estate or law after graduation. Through various internships in both fields, he has been able to confirm that these are areas of great interest. This past summer, he interned at a real estate investment company in New York City, and hopes to continue work in the field moving forward. Aside from his academic and professional pursuits, Yosef enjoys football in all forms; specifically, intramural flag football and watching professional football(mainly, the Patriots). Additionally, he loves to play tennis or really sports of any kind, and he also enjoys art, photography and film.
