Sara Shahanaghi '14
Sara is a Junior majoring in economics and math while minoring in computer science and history.
Sara has used the broad range of economics course offerings at Brandeis to explore different areas in the subject. She is especially interested in how economics can be used to solve social policy questions, especially relating to education. This year she will be working on a research project through Brandeis’ Schiff Fellowship program to learn more about education economics and how it can be applied to current-day dilemmas in education policy.
Last spring, Sara was a TA for Global Economics and this fall will be a TA for Intermediate Micro. She serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Brandeis Economics and Finance Review, a student-run journal on economic issues.
This past summer, she interned at Compass Lexecon in Boston, an economic consulting firm. While she is still in the process of deciding what she’ll be doing after Brandeis, she is considering graduate school in economics.
Outside of classes, she plays violin for the Brandeis Wellesley Orchestra and is part of an on-campus quartet. She is also a columnist for the Justice and a volunteer math tutor.
Please feel free to contact Sara if you have any questions about the econ program, internships, or the many opportunities the department has to offer. She looks forward to getting to know more of the econ students at Brandeis.
