John Plotz awarded Guggenheim
Professor John Plotz has been awarded a fellowship from the prestigious Guggenheim Foundation.
The fellowship, meant for the 2011-2012 school year, was awarded for Plotz's current academic project, a book entitled Semi-Detached: The Aesthetic of Partial Absorption. The book explores the audience's experience of art –– what it means to be partly absorbed in a work. Artwork, in the view of Semi-Detached, may run the gamut from Victorian paintings to the recent phenomenon of Second Life.
