Local food for the Brandeis Community

            We decided to bring farmer’s market to Brandeis based on our personal experiences over the past two years. We have found a shortage of fresh produce on campus, especially on the weekends. Although dining services has made many strides to make Brandeis more sustainable, they have struggled to find a constant local produce supplier. A past Greening the Ivory Tower project helped to incorporate locally grown food into the Usdan (Brandeis dining hall) salad bar. Sid Wainer is one of the suppliers that contributes to most of the locally grown food found in the dining halls. However, we wanted to take this a few steps further and provide a farmer’s market so the entire community can enjoy fresh food.
