If you have questions about placement in the various language sections of the Department of German, Russian, and East Asian Languages (Chinese, German, Japanese, Russian), i.e. which course to take, or if and when there is a placement test offered, please contact these faculty members:

Chinese Placement Test

German:

A German language placement test (for new and incoming students, who are unsure about which language class to take -- GER 10, or GER 30) will be given on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. - location TBA. To sign up for the test, or for more information, please contact the German language coordinator Prof. Geffers Browne.

Japanese:

Russian:

If you are a native speaker of Russian and you would like to place out of the foreign language requirement at Brandeis, you need to take a language proficiency exam. The exam is design to test your proficiency in writing and speaking. It is required for all students regardless of level. The test lasts approximately one hour.
