Tenure-Track Position in Musicology

The Department of Music at Brandeis University seeks to appoint to its faculty a scholar specializing in Renaissance music and one or more of the following additional fields: American music; music and gender; nonwestern music; and performance, particularly keyboard. The preferred start date is Fall 2008.  It is expected that the successful candidate will have received the Ph.D. by September 2008.  While we expect that the appointment will be made at the assistant professor level, a more advanced appointment for candidates with exceptional qualifications may be considered.

 

Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching and evidence of scholarly promise and should be prepared to design and teach courses that will broaden and diversify the undergraduate and graduate curriculum.  Additional duties will include departmental and university service and active participation in the profession.

 

Applicants should send a letter of interest, CV, three letters of recommendation, and a teaching dossier (including syllabi of courses taught and teaching evaluation data, where available). Candidates may be asked to submit writing samples at a later date.
