 Joo-Mee Lee is a musician whose diverse experience includes solo, chamber and orchestral performance. She was a violinist in the DaVinci Quartet and the Colorado Springs Symphony. She also served as a member of the violin and chamber music faculty at the University of Denver and at Colorado College. As a member of the DaVinci Quartet, she toured the United States and Europe giving numerous concerts and masterclasses.

Before coming to the United States in 1995, Ms. Lee received her bachelor’s degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London. She was one of two young musicians chosen in 1993 and in 1994 to represent Korea for the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, which performed in the Berlin Philharmonie, Leipzig Gewandhaus and Amsterdam Concertgebow. She received a master’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music, where she studied with James Buswell. During her master’s studies, Ms. Lee founded a string quartet named Tonos which won the Honors Ensemble Competition, took part in the BankBoston Celebrity Series with Rob Capilow, and gave recitals throughout New England. Her quartet was also invited by the Choong-Ang Daily Newspaper to give a recital in Hoam Art Hall, one of the most prestigious concert halls in Seoul, Korea.

Ms. Lee has been invited to music festivals such as Aspen, Banff, Sarasota and Hampden-Sydney, where she gave solo and chamber recitals. Her recent concert engagements include a concerto performance with Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, a solo recital in Ewon Cultural Center in Seoul, and the world premiere of chamber music works by Andrew List and David Colson with the Concordia String Trio in California.

Ms. Lee completed her Doctor of Musical Arts in May 2006 at Boston University.  Her doctoral dissertation was titled “An Analytical Study of Three String Quartets of Bernard Rands.” She is currently teaches at Brandeis University and the University of Massachusetts Boston.
