Michael McGrade, Assistant Professor (B.A., SUNY at Stony Brook; A.M. and Ph.D., University of Chicago), taught at Williams College before joining the Music Department at Brandeis in 2001. He has received awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Mrs. Giles Whiting Foundation, and Jacob K. Javits Fellowship program. His research focuses on the interaction of liturgical chant, art, and politics in the Holy Roman Empire of the 12th and 13th centuries.
