Joseph Platta

Joe comes to Brandeis from the Land of Lincoln.  After growing up in the ‘burbs of Chicago he completed his undergraduate work at Marquette University with a major in philosophy and minors in history and German.

His philosophical interests gravitate toward the philosophy of mind, metaphysics and epistemology.  Joe also plans to study ethics while at Brandeis and maintains a longstanding fascination with the early modern philosophers Gottfried Leibniz and Baruch Spinoza as well as the Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard.

When taking a break from philosophy Joe moonlights as a short story writer, imbibes gin martinis, enjoys Bertolt Brecht’s poetry and craves baked goods (especially chocolate chip banana nut bread).
